Anoto Live Forms - I get a certificate warning/error when I try to use ALF?

Question
Why do I get a certificate warning/error when I try to use Live forms?

Answer
All communication between the user and the Live Forms server is encrypted with HTTPS (SSL) which uses a self-signed SSL certificate by default. The warning simply means that the certificate is not issued by a trusted authority. The communication is still encrypted, but the browser does not trust the server.

Solution
There are two approaches to solving this:

  • Purchase a trusted SSL certificate and install it on your Live Forms server
  • Ignore the error. Click “Continue to this website” or you can add an exception

We recommend the use of a trusted certificate for any production system. Systems hosted by Anoto come with a certificate already installed.
