Anoto Live Forms - Problems when installing ALF

  1. Requirements

    Question
What software requirements should be met when installing the ALF for Windows client?

    Answer
When using the latest versions of PrintProcessor and the ALF for Windows client, you should ensure you have .NET 4.5 installed and updated. Ideally, this should be installed prior to installing the client software. Once the client software has been installed, please reboot the PC.
  2. Credential fail

    Question
After installing ALF for Windows we get problems with credentials when starting it. We are getting message credential fail even if they are right. I also tried starting the Framework service in Services. What causes these issues?

    Answer
The server name should be entered without http:// or https:// or any additional paths. If the password is rejected, please confirm that you can log in to the web interface using the same username and password as used in the client software.
  3. Sync pen clock

    Question
We forgot to sync pen clock. What time should we set in Last stroke time in the .xml file attached. Right now it shows send time as 1970.....

    Answer
Within the ALF for Windows client, under Edit > General Settings, check "Sync pen clock when docking" - ALF for Windows MUST be running for the clock to be set when the pen is docked. Failure to sync the pen clock both when distributing new pens or after a battery has been allowed to discharge will result in dates starting from 01/01/1970, there is unfortunately nothing that can do about this on the server side.
  4. Pairing issue

    Question
We have an issue on Android when in pairing mode. I want to pair the pen with a mobile for the very first time, before docking the pen, is that possible?

    Answer
No, any new Anoto digital pen must be "woken up" when it is first received. All our pens are shipped out in a "deep sleep" mode to prevent damage to the battery. Once woken up, you can use the "Enable Bluetooth" button under 'Edit > Pen Settings' to begin the pairing process with a mobile device.
